The Role

As the business systems analyst, you will play a key role in interpreting business needs and guiding the development of custom business systems for our clients. You will ideally have a technical background and have evolved your skillset into analysing and documenting requirements, developing wireframes, test plans and other artefacts that underpin the development of quality software. You will have strong communication and leadership skills to support others on the team and to assist in ensuring systems are built to expected quality standards.

Note: You will be required to work in the Darwin CBD. Remote work is not available for this role.

Duties include:

  1. Eliciting and analysing business requirements from stakeholders.
  2. Documenting functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and user stories.
  3. Mapping and documenting business processes and workflows.
  4. Identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation through data or workflow analysis.
  5. Developing wireframes and mock-ups to support solution design and stakeholder engagement.
  6. Collaborating with the software development team to clarify requirements and guide implementation.
  7. Creating test plans and test cases based on requirements.
  8. Conducting functional, regression, and integration testing and providing quality assurance oversight throughout the development lifecycle.
  9. Assisting customers with user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
  10. Providing training and assistance to customers during the implementation and support phases.

Selection Criteria

To join the team, you must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

  • Experience in requirements elicitation techniques including conducting stakeholder workshops, interviews, and presentations.
  • Experience analysing business requirements for new business systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Strong skills in documenting functional and non-functional requirements, use cases, and user stories.
  • Experience in mapping business processes and workflows.
  • Ability to develop clear, user-friendly wireframes or mock-ups using tools such as Balsamiq and Figma.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with software developers to deliver solutions.
  • Hands-on experience conducting manual testing and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Experience assisting with user acceptance testing (UAT) and supporting customers during transition and post-go-live phases.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Adaptability and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Desirable attributes include:

  • Experience developing data models, data dictionaries, and business glossaries.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Selenium, or similar).
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
