The northern part of the NT, including Darwin has a tropical climate consisting of two seasons. The wet season (October to April) and the dry season (May to September). During the dry season most days are warm and sunny with afternoon humidity averaging around 33%. The wet season consists of monsoonal rain, with the majority of the rainfall occurring between December and March, thunderstorms are common and afternoon humidity averages over 70%. The average annual rainfall is 1,570mm for the top-end of the Northern Territory.
The central part, including Alice Springs, is a semi-arid region with little rain. The average rainfall for this region is less than 250mm. The central region consists of very hot summers and cool winters with frost generally recorded a few times a year.

As per the 2021 Census, this population is made up of 50.5% male and 49.5% females with a median age of 33.
