Hackathon Winners

Radical Systems software developers Iain Buchanan, Ben Creswick, Aaron Hay, Luis Silva and Jordan Ware spent three days at the Motorola Hackathon tackling a challenge posed by public safety agencies. In the time allocated they built a prototype of a peer-to-peer serverless secure messaging system that includes a mobile application, desktop application and middleware services. The mobile application is cross-platform for deployment on iOS, Android and Universal Windows Platform devices.

The system can integrate geolocation data from Land Mobile Radio (LMR) and mobile devices, viewable in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. The system can also export historical geolocation data in Keyhole Markup Language (KML) to be viewable in applications such as Google Earth.

The win was a strong showing for the Northern Territory, demonstrating the capability, innovative thinking and drive that underlies the Territory's relatively small technology sector.
